Culture of new zealand

There are several things that New Zealand and Chile have in common but there are many more things in which they have differences. One of the similarities between the two countries is their great loyalty and love for sport. In this case it is rugby but in ours it is the football. By contrast one part of the things that differentiates  is the type of food in the breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also they eat at different times than we (tend to eat a lunch and dinner a little before us).

Another very important thing to mention is social security that exists in this country,  where people can live without worrying about their things being stolen or not, this definitely impressed me and without a doubt this fact makes this country a very pleasant place to live.

In conclusion, the thing that caused me the most interest is the Maori culture and their connection with the people of New Zealand which is very close; they live together, respect and help each other, which is very good and surprised me a lot because in Chile with the Mapuche we don't have this type of connection because our relationship is not very good.

What is it to be a New Zealander?

To be part of this community is very different  both culturally and socially than that of the Chileans. Firstly, the people are very organized; they follow the rules at all costs; they care about others and they are responsible and punctual. Besides being all these things they are also very athletic and have a healthy diet which allows them to develop their activities every day without problems and always with an incredible mood. Another very important point that defines the people of this country is that they are open minded which is very important because they accept any kind of culture, point of view or race, always offering their friendship to others. Also the security is amazing; you can leave a bike forgotten and it will be in the same place for a long time, untouched, so this means you can put a lot of trust in these people.

Without a doubt being a part of this community is a great privilege. In addition to being a developed country and having an education of excellence recognized in the whole world, New Zealand is also a integral country, open minded and very friendly to us and to the other people.

In conclusion be a New Zealander is to be an open-minded, good person with good habits and impressive manners. On the other hand the life here is very difficult because you realize that there are a lot of activities each day and also in the weekend, so you don't have time for anything and this can be disadvantage.
